Mascot Drainage Upgrade Feasibility and Concept Design Report

This study investigated potential solutions to reduce the flood risk in areas of major ponding in Mascot, including the Baxter Road low point and Hollingshed Street low point. Three options were developed that were considered feasible and cost effective:

Hollingshed Street Option A: new drainage line consisting of twin 1050 mm/1200 mm diameter pipes from the Botany Lane low point to the new TfNSW pit

• Hollingshed Street Option B: A new short drainage line consisting of a 1200 mm x 1200 mm box culvert and inlets, located at the Botany Lane low point. This would discharge into the existing 1800 mm x 1300 mm box culvert under Botany Road and the railway line (as 2400 mm x 1800 mm box culvert) to Ascot Drain. • Baxter Road Option: A new 1200 mm diameter pipe from Baxter Road, under the railway and discharging into the existing 1800 mm diameter pipe. This pipe discharges into the top of the Ascot Drain.
